This guide describes how to install the Linux version of the free Localphone Softphone. See the softphone download page for more information about the application and how to get it.

1. Download the Installer

   When prompted, opt to save the Linux installer file to disk.

   

2. Extract the Application

   When the download has completed:

   1. Extract the localphone-linux-installer.tar.gz file
   2. Create a “.localphone” directory in your home directory
   3. Copy the provision.conf file from your extracted directory to the newly created “.localphone” directory
   4. Now you can run the binary “localphone” file from your extracted directory to execute the Localphone softphone.

3. Launch the Localphone Softphone

   

   Enter your site username and password (or your SIP ID and SIP password). The application will then automatically configure itself and you can start making calls straight away.

1. Download & Run the Installer

   When prompted, opt to download and run the Mac OSX installer file, accepting any security notifications.

   

   If the image is not mounted automatically, find and run the disk image followed by the “Localphone.pkg” file.

   

2. Follow the Localphone Setup Installer

   When the Localphone Installer appears simply follow the on-screen instructions through the installation process.

   

3. Launch the Localphone Softphone

   Un-mount the installer disk image and launch the application. Enter your site username and password (or your SIP ID and SIP password). The application will then automatically configure itself and you can start making calls straight away.

1. Download & Run the Installer

   When prompted, opt to download and run the Windows installer file. Alternatively you can save the file to disk and execute it later.

   

   Note that you may need administrator privileges to install new applications on your machine.

2. Follow the Localphone Setup Wizard

   When the download has completed, accept any further prompts until the Localphone Setup Wizard appears. Follow the on-screen instructions.

   

3. Launch the Localphone Softphone

   If you opted to do so at the end of the Setup Wizard, the Localphone Softphone application will launch itself. If not you will have to find and run the program in the Start Menu or with Windows Explorer.

   

   Enter your site username and password (or your SIP ID and SIP password). The application will then automatically configure itself and you can start making calls straight away.

   Note that if you have a personal firewall installed you may receive further prompts to grant access for the Localphone Softphone. These permissions are required for the software to function properly.
